The “Edmund Fitzgerald” was built in River Rouge, Michigan and launched on June 8, 1958. The 730′ ore carrier was the pride and major workhorse of the Great Lakes Fleet, breaking record after record. She was lost in a fierce Lake Superior gale, fifteen miles off Whitefish Point on November 10, 1975 with a crew of 29. Original 24″ x 18″ was a gift.
