Local events in the last 60 years have played a huge role in shaping the lives of people worldwide. Grayling has its own stories that talk of shaping the lives of Dan's family and friends.

This history is important in that it shapes Dan's art.

An important article describing Dan's work was written and published in the June 11, 2009 issue of the Houghton Lake Resorter. The photography and writing were done by Houghton Lake Resorter writer Eric Hamp.
